Thank you to Robert's mom for the donation of the glitter putty! It is a huge hit in our room! Today we played with it while we were taking breaks from working hard on our letter sounds and building cvc words.

We made "cupcakes" on this snowy morning and I think everyone agreed they would rather have a real cupcake! We talked about the next holiday coming up - Valentine's Day! We talked about how Valentine's Day was about being kind to our friends, showing that we care about them and how we can show others we care by being kind.
Today we read "Snowman Magic" where a boy makes a snowman to play with and how he melts when it warms up, but another snow storm comes and the boy can make a snowman again. We talked about how the story connects to our weather right now. The snow may have melted, but we are ready for another snowy day tomorrow! We made our own snowflakes, using our fingers to paint them and sprinkled glitter all over them. Our winter board looks beautiful in the hallway with our winter art!
Today we played with snow slime! It was a huge hit! We talked about how it was slimy and covered our hands with it. We also made a winter snow globe using white daubers to make a snow scene. The snow globes are hanging up in our classroom as beautiful winter decorations.
Today we read a book called Frozen Noses By Jan Carr and talked about what we do in the winter. We talked about sledding, making snowmen, ice skating, drinking hot cocoa and warming up under blankets. We made our own mitten using tissue paper and glue. I can't wait to hang them up on our bulletin board when they dry!
