The past 2 weeks we have been learning about animals that hibernate and animals that live in the arctic. We have started the Teachtown curriculum and are using it daily in the ILC room. We painted icebergs with watercolors and experimented mixing colors. When we were finished we rubber a piece of paper on the iceberg to see our creation. We read books about hibernation and the arctic, read simple sentences, sequenced stories by beginning, middle and end, made a bear with bubble wrap, created a hibernation train, made an edible bear and followed a recipe to make snow for our pretend penguins.

The past 2 weeks we have been learning about winter weather and what clothing. We have been practicing reading simple sentences, writing our own simple sentences, identifying clothing words, beginning sounds of words, sorting by size, 1:1 correspondence, number identification, reading comprehension and sequencing stories. We have also had a ton of fun with shaving cream, trying to build towers with cups and watercolors. Today we made our own snowflakes with marshmallows and talked about how no 2 snowflakes will ever look the same.
Hi Families! It has been a pleasure to be back in our classroom this week and getting to know all of your children again. It has been a week filled with fun activities, reading holiday stories, the school sing-a-long and tomorrow is the school dance party! Yesterday we had a relay race in the hallway with Christmas bows and it was the best way to start our day! I am hoping to play again tomorrow before we head off for Christmas Break.
As many of you know- I had a baby at the end of June. Mason is the sweetest baby and thankfully extreme laid back. Since he is the third little one in our family he was born into a busy house! I have enjoyed my time off with him and our other 2 children. As a mom I can't help but share a couple pictures. :) Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns. The past few couple of weeks we have had so much fun learning about bugs, going on an outdoor bug hunt, learning about the ocean and having a sensory afternoon with ocean/beach activities. We made sea foam with shells, sand dough with shells, a newspaper shark and a cheerio starfish. We are ending the year with an ice cream theme! Today we followed a recipe and made our own ice cream!
Families, Thank you for a wonderful year! It has been a pleasure working with your children! - Mrs. M Last week we learned about the frog life cycle, parts of a frog, ponds, and animals that live in ponds. We had a special afternoon with Mrs. Walker's class for frog sensory projects. We made our own frog slime, made a frog with a blower, created our own ponds and explored our pond sensory table.
Today we had a blast at our field day! We also enjoyed lunch outside and had fun with Mrs. Foley's class. We played with water beads, bubbles, chalk, beach balls and many many cups for cup stacking activities. Last week week we learned about parts of a plant and what a plant needs to grow. We read about growing a garden, answered comprehension questions about what we read and built our own sentences about what we see in the garden. We planted our own seeds and went on a scavenger hunt outside of plants, dirt, and other items we can find outside.
This week we have been learning about Pizza! We read a book about a little red hen making pizza, answered comprehension questions related to the story, made paper plate pizzas, created a pizza slice, labeled all of the toppings and made a sentence about what we like on our pizza. We also pretended to be a pizza parlor and followed the directions to make pizzas with different toppings.
We had so much fun yesterday with our St. Patrick's Day activities! The leprechaun even made a visit, leaving us leprechaun rocks. We poured special water over our leprechaun rocks and found gold coins inside. We also made fruit loop necklaces, sorted lucky charms, played in the sensory table and fed the leprechaun.
Yesterday we finally had our Valentine's Day Activities! We created our own collages with a variety of colors and ways to make hearts, painted our hands to create a love gnome, sorted/graphed candy hearts (maybe even tasted a few too!), explored valentine sea foam and our Valentine's Day themed sensory table filled with hearts, scoops, flowers, petals and pom poms.
Today we had so much fun celebrating the 100th day of school! We made our own 100 hats by counting to 10, 10 different times with stickers, stamps, and daubers.
